The Marian Campus Valedictory and Awards Ceremony was a recognition of excellence, as we gathered to honour and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students. With pride, we recognised outstanding academic accomplishments, leadership and contributions to the College and wider community. Congratulations to all the award recipients for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Photos from the evening are now available to view and purchase online.
We extend heartfelt congratulations to Aden Croser, the very worthy recipient of the 2023 Joseph Cardijn Award at this evening’s Valedictory Ceremony.
We also acknowledge and congratulate Alexandra Meneses who was awarded the St Marcellin Champagnat Award for her service and leadership in our College community.
As our 2023 College Captains, both Aden and Alexandra embody the values of humility and presence that make us proud to have them as part of our Cardijn community. Congratulations to these remarkable individuals on their well-deserved achievements!
Embracing adventure and building memories at Year 8 camp! From team challenges to outdoor exploration, our students created bonds and made memories to last a lifetime.

We're still riding the waves of excitement from the annual Swimming Carnival held at the Unley Swimming Pool in Week 8 of Term 4! It was a day filled with incredible displays of talent, teamwork, and house spirit. Our students dove into the competition with enthusiasm, showcasing their swimming skills in various events, from thrilling relay races to friendly novelty races and water polo games.

A heartfelt thank you to all staff and students for contributing to the vibrant atmosphere. The success of the event is a testament to the wonderful sense of community that defines Cardijn College.
Galilee's Reception students stole the show with their adorable Nativity play! Witnessing their pure joy and innocence as they acted out the Christmas story in front of the school was truly magical.
Our students recently showcased their intellectual abilities at the Ethics Olympiad, competing against schools nationwide. Facing thought-provoking ethical challenges, Kayden, Mikayla, Diya and Sienna stood out with an honourable mention.
Their commendable performance not only earned recognition but also ignited a newfound passion for ethics. Well done to our talented participants!
Marian Year 7 Italian students, under the guidance of chef and Cardijn old scholar David Lovett ('99), made Torta ai Mirtilli, a staple cake in many Italian households. The finished product didn’t last long before being devoured and many students were keen to take the recipe home and make it for their families.
This week, 40 Year 8 students from Marian Campus, contemplating a career in the trades, participated in a half-day immersion experience at Marcellin Campus. Guided through various trade areas, they gained insights into the workings of the trade industry.
The students also had the chance to create two small projects to take home – a pen from the Engineering workshop and a pencil and pen holder from the Construction workshop. Special thanks to Marcellin trainers Mr Sariovski, Mr Macrow, Mr Jongenelis and Mr Cox for guiding the students through these engaging activities.
In 2023 Year 11 Chavoin student, Lauri Brown studied Stage 2 Indonesian at Open Access College. On Wednesday 6 December, she was acknowledged at their awards ceremony by receiving the Indonesian Continuers Academic Achievement Award. Lauri dedicated herself tirelessly to her studies whilst also balancing various sporting commitments throughout the year. Congratulations!
This week we welcomed lecturers from Adelaide School of Art to Galilee campus to run workshops with the Middle School students. Students had the opportunity to rotate through three visual arts workshops using oil pastels, charcoal and coloured pencils to create a range of artworks with different focuses. The Middle School students enjoyed engaging with the artists and the workshops with some excellent artworks being produced during their sessions.
Galilee's Year 3 and 4 students had a fantastic time harvesting fresh herbs, onions, and garlic from our bountiful produce gardens to make delicious pizzas to celebrate a successful year of growing their own food!
At the recent HotShots State Final, Galilee's team of eight showcased their tennis skills, securing a commendable 5th place against other metro schools. Although narrowly missing the chance for an exhibition match at the prestigious Adelaide International, the day was not without its highlights.
Our students had an exclusive opportunity to step onto centre court, where tennis star Alicia Molik, tournament director, shared her inspiring tennis journey with our enthusiastic players. Mrs Pengilly might have even been more excited than the students at this encounter! A special thank you to Aaron Sharp our parent helper who took a day off work to assist with transport and supervising our team.
From the Deputy Principal
What a wonderful time of year at Cardijn College as we have recently celebrated (or are about to celebrate) significant achievements and milestones for our young people. Across the campuses there have been wonderful assemblies, celebrations and our sending forth traditions to recognise our students at this important time of year. I want to express my sincere thanks to all of the parents/carers and Cardijn families who are such terrific supporters of our students. Without you, their Cardijn journey wouldn’t be as wholesome as it is with your encouragement and support. A tremendous thank you to all of the sensational staff across the College, in all the various roles that make our community the brilliant educational environment that it is. The staff work tirelessly to ensure every student can achieve success and have a lovely school environment to flourish and thrive.
On a personal note, my time at Cardijn concludes soon after a 25-year relationship with the College, firstly as a student, then a casual music tutor at Marian and Galilee, before becoming a teacher in this wonderful community. I want to express my deep gratitude to all of the people who have contributed to my Cardijn journey throughout this time. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to teach incredible students and work with amazing staff. I hope that I have been able to contribute to the Cardijn community throughout my time here, however, what I know for sure, is that I have learnt so much from so many people here (including the students!). Although I might have given a lot of myself to Cardijn College, Cardijn College has given far more back to me…… and for that, all I can say from the bottom of my heart, is thank you.
