Cert II Construction students are currently engaged in the construction and varnishing of two additional picnic tables for Galilee. They are also working on building a deck for outside, expanding the seating capacity of another area within the school.
Progress photos capture the construction of the deck's outside frame, showcasing the students' commitment to enhancing communal spaces through their practical skills and teamwork.
For more information, we invite you to read our 'Come and Try VET' document outlining the available come-and-try sessions available for Marian students this term.

Last Thursday and Friday all Year 10 Marcellin students participated in two important courses to assist them with their quest for employment in the future. Students were required to complete their ‘White Card’ training which acts as a WHS license allowing students to be on a worksite/building site. The white card course consists of theory training as well as practical scenario-based training aimed at ensuring students can remain safe whilst at work.
They also participated in a ‘Workplacement Preparation Program’ which is a course designed to further their knowledge of identifying hazards and risks out at work experience and understanding how they can manage risk to keep themselves and others safe. Students are educated about legal responsibilities as well as all things workplace health and safety as part of the course.
We are pleased to report that all Year 10 students successfully completed and passed both their White Card and Workplacement Preparation Program.

Chick Chat serves as a platform for our female students to foster connections and develop essential skills for their professional journeys.
Ms Meg Molenaar focused the session around mental health and wellbeing, with students engaging in yoga and mindful breathing exercises at the beach.
Following the meditation session, students indulged in ice cream and sorbet.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all staff members for their unwavering support of our girls' growth and development.
The Year 5 Galilee students took a trip to Port Noarlunga to learn about the importance of water safety.
The students enjoyed a fun-filled water safety program, where they learned valuable safety skills through, boogie boarding, surfing, and surf rescue activities!
Breakfast Club is back at Marian for 2024.
Some of our wonderful student leaders and staff have teamed up with Foodbank to operate this fantastic initiative.
Breakfast Club will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7.45 - 8.25am in the Home Ec Centre on Marian Campus.
Students are provided with free breakfast staples and everyone is welcome!
Year 6 student from Galilee, Leo, showcased his exceptional talent at last week's State Combined Event Championships, securing himself a silver medal.
The championships featured a structured program where athletes accumulated points based on their performances across five different events. These included a mixture of running, jumping, and throwing events, displaying the athletes' all-round athletic ability.
The event drew a competitive field of 41 participants. Despite the fierce competition, Leo's remarkable performance positioned him just a few points away from claiming the top spot!
π Join us for another magical week of Playgroup at Galilee! This coming Monday, our theme is 'health & wellbeing' as we come together to explore colourful food.

π±Don't miss out on the joy of playful interactions and discovery!
See you every Monday from 9-10:30am in the Family Room located behind the Galilee church. No registration needed!

Last Friday, Cardijn was buzzing with excitement as Year 10 Marian student, Eve arrived at school in a McLaren sportscar!
The crowd of onlookers couldn't contain their excitement.
We thank the incredible SAFM Adelaide Black Thunders crew for making this happen.
Our students had a blast harvesting fresh zucchini from the stir-fry bed! We turned this delicious vegetable into spiralized treats for them to try... and they loved it! They got hands-on, collecting bean seeds and planting oregano for our pizza plot.
Cardijn Master Planning: ‘Marian West’ and ‘Galilee South’
Last year the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS) finalised the purchase of the land adjacent to the west of the Marian Campus as shown.
The intent is to develop a Senior School Campus including a multi-court gymnasium. We are working with Catholic Education SA’s (CESA) Planning and Development team in conjunction with Grieve Gillett Architects. The project will unfold over the next decade. The aim for 2026 is to have completed Stage 1A which will include a link to the West campus from the current campus, car parking off Goldsmith Drive and a two-storey facility comprising general learning areas, science laboratories and a food technology centre. Other related amenities for staff and students will also be included. Consequent stages will include a Marist Centre, gymnasium and another classroom facility. Consultations are underway with the relevant staff. We are also in discussions with the Onkaparinga Council regarding the project.
At Galilee, the land acquisition runs south of the existing campus and aligns closely to the southern boundary of our neighbouring school with the rail corridor land in between. The intention is to develop the site into an Early Learning to Year 12 Catholic Educational Community. Similar to the Marian West project we are working with the CESA team and Brown Falconer architects. The precise timeline of Stage 1 is currently being determined following initial consultation with the staff and students.
A progress report on the Marian West project was presented to the College Board and Marian Staff this week. As the planning progresses it will be shared with the Cardijn Community but at this stage, it is very much preliminary – and quite exciting!
Best wishes,
Steve Byrne
