A group of Year 5 and 6 Galilee leaders attended the CESA Student Leadership Workshop at St Martin De Porres. The aim of the day was to teach the students skills to implement student lead Physical Education activities with the younger students at Galilee.
The students have come back with some ideas around lunch time workshops and morning fitness before school begins. A few reflections from the students:
“We learnt the ‘Change It’ strategy” which is if the game isn’t working you can think of different ways to change it and make it better. For example, the playing area, equipment, number of students or rules" - Sofia
“We learnt about leadership in sport and how to make games up for younger kids. We are looking forward to starting a dance club. I am looking forward to planning it” - Sharlee
“We talked about teamwork, communication and how to talk to the kids to organise them and get their attention” - Lilah
“We took part in lots of games – with and without equipment” - Ryder
“We taught kids from other schools how to play a game. We had to work together to teach them the game properly” - Tyson

🏛️ Year 11 Marcellin students recently toured Parliament House. The group asked insightful questions about Government structure and how they can have their say about what happens in the community.
⚖️ Led by the Hon Laura Henderson MLC, the group saw Old Parliament House the House of Assembly and the Legislative Council.
Galilee families are invited to join us on the paved area outside our front gates Friday morning (12/5) from 8.15am for a free Mother’s Day coffee, hot drink or muffin from The Coffee Trough.
We are excited to host a very special, inaugural event titled Inspired Live. This event will give our Marian Campus Year 11 students the opportunity to hear from a number of Cardijn Old Scholars who have achieved great success in a range of different fields including aerospace engineering, the arts, health, education and business.
The Old Scholars will speak to students about their professional journey, the skills they’ve developed along the way, specific industry insights and tips and tricks for being successful in a range of different workplace settings. We have some impressive guests booked in already, some even coming from interstate to speak to us.
Inspired Live is just one of the many initiatives aimed at supporting our senior students as they begin the subject selection process and navigate their future pathways and career prospects. We hope this event will also encourage connection between the many, fantastic Cardijn Old Scholars who were once students at Cardijn who are now thriving in their chosen fields.
All Marian Campus students attended an assembly for their year level led by Ms Greig (Head of Campus), Mr Lloyd (Director of Students - Senior Years) and Ms Takianos (Director of Students – Middle Years).
These assemblies were focused on respectful relationships and included content about specific issues that students have raised with staff in recent weeks. We always appreciate student agency and encourage students to speak to staff about any concerns they have at any time.
All students were encouraged to continue the conversation at home regarding what constitutes a respectful relationship and the type of language and behaviour that is not accepted in the Cardijn community.
Students were encouraged to live our See, Judge, Act methodology by naming behaviour that is not respectful by speaking to a trusted adult or using the online anonymous reporting tool that Cardijn has available via the SEQTA homepage.
Please find an outline of the assembly here so that you can continue this discussion at home.
We are looking forward to welcoming the Cardijn community to the Careers and Pathways Expo on Wednesday 21 June from 2.30 - 5.00pm in the Marian Campus Gym. A variety of different industries and organisations will be represented, with presentations from some major brands, including the University of Adelaide.
Over the coming weeks we will highlight some of the key presenters we will be hosting at the expo.

🏐 We were honoured to invite Olympian Damien Schumann, who represented Australia in Beach Volleyball at Tokyo 2020, to deliver a truly awe-inspiring presentation to our students! Damien's passion for his sport was contagious, and he captivated our entire audience with his stories of perseverance, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence.
His journey to the Olympics showcased the power of hard work and determination, inspiring our students to dream big and reach for their goals. Thank you Damien for sharing your remarkable journey with us and reminding us all that with passion and grit, anything is possible!
Catholic School Parents SA presents an inspirational evening with Gill Hicks MBE AM Resilience - a raw conversation with Gill on her personal story of strength, gratitude and how it relates to families.

Student safety is paramount at Cardijn College at all times. To ensure students are safe and that child safeguarding processes are upheld, it is essential that students do not order food, or organise for other items, to be delivered to any campus of the College, whether this be via Uber, friends or other delivery services.
When parents/carers need to deliver anything to their child during school hours, this must be done via the front office of the relevant campus and not directly to the students in College car parks or via other entrances to school grounds. This process is in place to ensure student safety at all times. Thank you for your support.
From the Principal
This week at the Marian Campus, year level assemblies were held in regard to respectful relationships. All families were sent a copy of the presentation. We are committed to making Cardijn a safe, healthy and happy place for all our students and setting expectations is part of the educative process.
Can I encourage this to be a topic of conversation in our households, please? As always, if you have specific concerns please contact the College and we will follow up on all concerns raised.
In conclusion, May 26 marks the 70th anniversary of Edmund Hillary and his good friend and Sherpa, Tenzing Norgay reaching the summit of Mt Everest. In life we all have our ‘mountains’ to climb – but it is so much easier to undertake the journey with a trusted friend!
I look forward to the commencement of winter sport and, if you see me around, please come and introduce yourself!
Best wishes,
Steve Byrne
Principal
