We recently witnessed an exciting collaboration between Marian Campus Year 8 students and our younger peers from Galilee Campus. The Receptions and Year 1s from Galilee made a special visit to our campus to watch the Year 8 Children's Theatre Drama performance, and the experience was nothing short of magical!
The Year 8s used a variety of theatrical techniques, including improvisation, physical movement and expressive vocal skills to bring their group-devised plays to life. The young audience from Galilee was not only entertained but also exposed to the captivating world of drama and its power to convey stories and emotions.
This initiative served as a fantastic way to foster connections and friendships between our students at Marian and Galilee. It was heartwarming to see the older students inspiring and entertaining their younger counterparts. This event reminded us that our campuses are more than just physical locations; they are part of a larger community where learning, growth, and connections thrive.
A huge thank you to the Year 10 CAD/CAM students who designed and created our wonderful sets. This fostered a wonderful collaboration between the Drama and Technology faculties.
We extend our gratitude to the Year 8 students for their impressive performance and their role in bringing our campuses closer together. We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration and shared experiences in the future.
We are excited to announce that in 2024, we will be introducing a brand new line of Academy Sport uniforms. These uniforms are compulsory for any student participating in an Academy Sport next year. We understand the importance of a professional appearance when representing our academy, and these uniforms reflect our commitment to achieving this. These new uniforms will be available for purchase from Blackchrome Sportswear via their convenient online store. Students will be able to try on sample sizes of the Academy uniforms at the College around Week 4, Term 4, and then order their uniform from the online Blackchrome webstore before the end of term.
Get ready to gear up and make a statement on and off the field in 2024!
On Friday 29 September, 31 Galilee students from Years 5-7 participated in the Catholic School’s Music Festival Choir at the Festival Theatre.
The students have been working each week to master the repertoire and their performance was outstanding.
A special mention to Esther for being selected to represent Galilee by singing the National Anthem at the start of the festival.
The highlight of the night was the last number which celebrated the 100 Year anniversary of Disney. To see over 500 students move in unison to Be Our Guest and sing childhood favourites was such a joy.
The energy and enthusiasm as the choir came off the stage was contagious, and we know that the memories of being ‘backstage’ and singing at the Festival Theatre will be treasured.
Our Marian Campus senior jazz ensemble, Cardinal Blues, also had the honour of performing at the festival. Their rendition of the Brazilian classic, Mas Que Nada, left a lasting impression on the audience at the Adelaide Festival Theatre.
For some Year 12 students, this event was a nostalgic journey, as they remembered their time in the primary school Festival Choir. The remarkable performance by Cardinal Blues will be cherished as a lifelong memory.
The House Cup was created back in 2017 by the College Captains Sebastian and Chelsea. The House Cup looks to award the most deserving House in the College and incorporates attendance, academic endeavour, extra-curricular participation, service learning and other sporting, outreach and fundraising efforts.
This year's recipient of the House Cup is KOLBE HOUSE!! Congratulations!
Our Music Performance Suite was the stage for the Raise Your Voice vocal concert on 25 September. Organised by our Music Captains, the event was a celebration of Cardijn College's gifted vocalists. Family and friends filled the venue, enjoying stellar performances by our Cardijn ensembles, soloists, and student-formed groups. The standard of the performances was exceptionally high. One standout moment was when Hannah moved the audience to tears with a heartfelt Irish traditional ballad titled The Parting Glass.
"On Wednesday 11 October we were thrilled to attend the Secondary Schools Reception at Government House. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed by the governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. We spent time networking with other Student Leaders from across the state and sharing our leadership experiences before Her Excellency humbly addressed us about our collective contribution to our communities and sacrifices which are a necessary element of leadership. Through her gratitude and commitment she inspired us to continue to pursue this pathway even after our high school journey is over - to impact locally and globally. We were then fortunate to hear from Martin Westwell, Chief Executive of the Department for Education, who ignited a fire in us as he spoke about the youth of today providing hope for future generations. As we celebrate our final days of school with the Class of 2023, we see a cohort of unique and talented individuals and are filled with confidence - the future is in good hands."

On 18 October, in celebration of Volunteer Week, Cardijn music students were invited by Carers SA to provide entertainment at an event honouring the invaluable carers in our community. The Cardijn String Ensemble and Modern Guitar Ensemble were warmly welcomed by the carers and Minister Nat Cook, who opened the proceedings.
Against the backdrop of the picturesque Port Noarlunga Surf Life Saving Club, our students were grateful for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful community event, sharing their music and taking in the beautiful beach view.

From the Principal
Welcome back to our final term for the year! Term 4 is a shorter term but no less significant as we work towards concluding another year of learning and growing in partnership for the benefit of our young people.
As our Year 12 students, the Class of 2023, head into their final week of formal classes it is timely to be mindful that ‘our last impression is our lasting impression!’ Next year Cardijn turns 40 and many, many people have worked long and hard to build the fine reputation the College currently enjoys. However, it can take but one incident of poor judgement to bring that reputation into question. Our Year 12 students should enjoy their final week – appropriately and not to the detriment of other students, staff or the College reputation! For all families connected to our senior students, your words of encouragement and positive reinforcement of this message should not be underestimated!
Let’s all work towards a dignified conclusion for the Class of 2023 such that they will be fondly remembered as a very special group of young people whose lasting impression is one to be put before the Class of 2024 and others!
Best wishes for the term ahead.
